Updating the minimal role

Because of changing features and requirements, we periodically release updates to the CloudFormation template used to configure the minimal role. In case an update is required, we will inform all customers beforehand.

This document describes the update process for easy reference.

Update steps​

  1. Log into your AWS account with the proper credentials to modify CloudFormation stacks.

  2. Go to the CloudFormation service and select Stacks. From the list of stacks, choose the one matching the one created for the installation of Conveyor (this will be named "ConveyorInstallationRole" by default).

  3. Your page should look something like the screenshot below. Press the update button (indicated in red on the screenshot).

  4. On the "Update stack" step, you should pick the "Replace current template" option, and fill in https://datafy-cp-artifacts.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/conveyor-install/conveyor-install-role-and-policies.template as the value for Amazon S3 URL. Your screen should now match the one below. Press Next to continue.

  5. Because we chose to replace an existing stack instead of creating a new one, all the fields in the "Specify stack details" will already be filled in. No changes are required, you can just press Next to continue.

  6. For the "Configure stack options" step, you can just keep the defaults that AWS proposes.

  7. In the final "Review" step, you will receive a preview of the change set that will be applied. You can verify here that no unwanted changes will be applied. Once you're ready, you can check the box next to "I acknowledge that AWS CloudFormation might create IAM resources with custom names.", and press the Submit button to start the rollout.
